@f04@t6 Mc DISK
@f00@t4Issue reveiwed - #03
Produced by - Coma
@t6PRESENTATION AND DESIGN@t5
McDisk offers what now must be the
ultimate design in disk magzines. I
simply can't think of one factor that
they have overlooked! Clipart is
lacking, but everything else is here!
A nice intro, which doesn't do too
much or too litle opens the magazine,
and what a magazine McDisk is turning
out to be! The design and structure
of the magazine itself is just about
perfect. This, the third issue offers
@^
the most polished and well thought out
design of the magazine's brief
history. A metalic icon panel resides
towards the bottom of the screen. The
Icons are easily identifiable and very
well drawn. Each icon is marked by
tidy and readable text. Icons
controls cover previous and next
article or page, table of contents and
print. Other options include an
"Automouse" feature, this is incurred
by pressing the right mouse button,
the pointer will then appear frozen
over the next page icon and will stay
there until the right mouse button is
once again pressed. This feature is
basicaly intended as a labour saving
device, I.E you only have to find your
left mouse button to continue when
you reach the end of a page.
(Whatever next?!) Another feature new
@#@^@t5
to this issue of McDisk is the
abillity to use the keyboard as well
as mouse to select and article from
the contents page. This is done by
the way with mouse and selector bar.
A verticle slide stands on the right
hand side of the screen and sliding
this verticaly or horizontaly scrolls
the contents page. The fonts used
through out the magazine are plentiful
and easy to read. Graphic adverts are
allowed, and the text features
spinning characters, flashing text and
gorgeous multicolour cylcing effects.
One of the most interesting new
features in this issue is the "String
search". This feature allows you to
search every article for a particular
word or sentence. Every article that
contains your chosen ascii string will
be marked on the contents page! An
@^
ideal feature for those people that
only read articles that their groups
get a mention in! After a string
search has been carried out you'll
also find that the whole magazine is
now memory resident. @t7 94/100
@t6CONTENTS@t5
It's the quantity of articles in
MCdisk that impress more than the
quality I think. This is not a
critisism of the articles though. The
point I'm making is that you can loose
the reader sometimes by drowning him
in a sea of text. The articles in
Mcdisk lack no quality whatsoever,
though it has no be noticed that
'non-scene' topics do outm number
those that do cover the scene.
Interviews are plentiful and with
interesting and well known scene
personalites. In summary, if you only
@#@^@t5
read a third of Mcdisk, you'll have
had a double helping. @t7 89/100
@t6OVERALL@t5
What can I say, another winning
issue!. If McDisk continues in its
current direction I can't imagine how
good it will become. I don't know how
they will top this issue, but I'm sure
they wont have any problems.@t7 91/100
